Facilities Custodian

Position Summary:

The Facilities Custodian position is responsible for cleaning buildings and maintaining outdoor spaces, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

• Perform all jobs in accordance with established safety practices and sanitation standards.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks as assigned. Including but not limited to cleaning and maintaining designated spaces both inside and outside of the facility which includes the lunchrooms, changing areas, lobby, restrooms, offices, conference rooms, control rooms, and parking lots.
• Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, polish, shampoo carpets, empty trash, wash windows, and strip and wax floors as scheduled.
• Report maintenance issues as soon as they come to your attention.
• Maintain and stock supply rooms and bathrooms, as needed.
• Check for potential safety issues in all public areas daily and bring them to the attention of the Safety Manager.
• Ensure all doors, windows, entrances and exits are securely closed and locked when you’re the last person to leave the building.
• Mowing lawns, trimming hedges, weed eating, maintain landscaping and mulching, as needed.
• Maintain cleaning inventory, placing orders for new products when needed.
• Knowledge of cleaning products and tools.
• Perform all other assigned tasks. 

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior working experience as a custodian is preferred.
• On-the-job training is required.
• Time management and multitasking abilities.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to pass criminal background check including a drug and alcohol test.

Working Conditions:

• Work will be performed in a plant facility, outdoors in all weather conditions to include extreme heat, cold, wind and precipitation.
• Regularly exposed to dust, noise, odors, chemicals and fumes. Appropriate PPE will be provided and employees are required to wear designated PPE at all times.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to push, pull and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks.
• Must be able to stand, sit, walk, reach, bend, squat, kneel, and climb stairs/ladders for an entire shift.
• Must wear safety gear and required PPE.
