Position Summary:  The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for reporting, business process review and data analysis relating to activities ensuring operational effectiveness. The BIA will assist management by developing and maintaining reporting tools and processes, querying, and analyzing data, identifying root causes, recommending, and supporting decision making. The BIA owns project goals by developing project plans, establishing deadlines, monitoring milestone completion, providing timely reporting of issues that impact progress and resolving conflicts. This includes documenting and prioritizing assignments. This is a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Data mining from ERP, DCS, and related systems of the manufacturing process and create actionable outcomes.
  • Analyze data gathered and develop solutions or alternative methods of proceeding.
  • Confer with personnel concerned to ensure successful functioning of newly implemented systems or procedures.
  • Review forms and reports, and converse with management about format, distribution, and purpose, and to identify problems and improvements.
  • Document findings of analysis and prepare recommendations.
  • Plan study of work problems and procedures, such as organization change, communications, information flow, integrated production methods, inventory control, or cost analysis.
  • Develop, track, monitor, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) and other ERP data such as Waste Tracking and Inventory.
  • Interpret complex ERP and DCS data tables and create dashboards.
  • Conduct variance analysis.
  • Review company data and data from industry competitors or market research to make comparative assumptions about the company’s current operations in relation to others in their industry.
  • Using various resources (such as the internet, news, business publications, industry reports, public information, field reports, purchased sources, and others) to identify, collect and sort the financial, business, economic and other important data related to the industry.
  • Keeping close to the financial, business, economic, and industry trends related to the industry through communications with customers, competitors, suppliers, professional organizations, or others.
  • Maintain proprietary databases on supply, demand, competitor positioning and commodity prices.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Mathematics, Engineering, Finance, or Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, or a closely related field
  • A minimum of three years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.
  • Experience with in-depth data querying and manipulation of data to assist with root-causing, trending and summarization of projects presented to various level audiences.
  • Experience with MS Excel functions that include working with large data sets, creating standardized reports (across multiple spreadsheets), utilizing v-Lookups and advanced functions/formulas, creating, using and interpreting pivot tables, filtering and formatting.
  • SQL Reports, Crystal Reports, and/or MS Access knowledge preferable.
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools.
  • Experience gathering and communicating complex analytical business requirements in a simple and easy to understand manner to other staff. You will need to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, including technical staff, internal non-technical staff, testing teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Extremely organized with great attention to detail.
  • Excellent ability to analyze information and think systematically.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Thorough understanding of the company’s business processes and the industry at large.
  • Ability to understand complex relational databases and technology-driven business intelligence tools.

 Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Must be able to:

  • Push, pull and lift a minimum of 15 pounds.
  • Stand, sit, walk, reach and bend as required.
  • Sit at a desk and operate a computer for an entire shift.
  • Wear safety gear and required PPE.
  • Pass employment physical including a drug and alcohol test.
